In Memorium of My Good Friend's Father


Paul Boston

April 18, 1940 - June 29, 2009

Paul E. Boston Sr., 69, of Kentucky Avenue graduated to Heaven at 3:55 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Boston was a 1958 graduate of West Frankfort High School in Illinois and retired in 1995 from Cummins Engine Co. after 31 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, attended the Salvation Army Church and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was “grandpa” to everyone but to his grandchildren he was “papaw” and he loved them all dearly.

Born in Paoli, Indiana April 18, 1940, Mr. Boston was the son of the Rev. O.C. Boston and Minnie Dillinger Boston. He married Mary Jo Creech Feb. 28, 1961.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Pastor Ed (Margaret Ann) Boston of Hope and David (Jane Lyons) Boston of Columbus; a sister, Doris Boston Crecelius of Boonville; grandchildren, Brock, Brook, Rachel and D.J. Boston, Amanda and Amber Lyons and David and Angel Stroud; and great-grandchildren, Isabella and Caeden Sych.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Boston Stroud.

Funeral Information

VISITATION: Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home and from noon until service time Thursday.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with his childhood friend, the Rev. Harvey Herring, officiating.

BURIAL: Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Bartholomew County Veteran’s Color Guard.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope First Wesleyan Church Building Fund.
